San Diego

WP_000668WP_000739WP_000748WP_000769WP_000776WP_000796

We just got back from a trip to San Diego visiting Aaron’s twin, Adam and his wife Karina and their little boy Bradley. We had sooooooo much fun! We got in late on Friday and went to a family reunion on Saturday in Ontario, California. We all thought it was going to be inside somewhere, but when we cam to the location of the reunion…. everyone was outside. It could not have been more hot, almost unbearable! We still all had fun catching up with family, eating, and playing games. That night Aaron and his older brother, Michael went off to play and I decided that June needed a good sleep and a good nap the next day, so I decided to drive home with Adam and KArina and catch up with Aaron and his bro on Sunday night. We all met up Sunday night and played games and talked and laughed. We had a delicious BBQ on the fourth and got to watch some beautiful fireworks. I thought maybe June would be scared of the fireworks… she loved them, not scared at all! Over the next few days we met up with some friends, went to the beach, the park, and Karina and I got some alone time while the men watched the kids. I also got to see my sister Stephanie and her 3 kids and we all went to the pool. It was great to see her. She is moving down to San Diego over the next few days and she will be living just 5 minutes away from Adam and Karina…. just more incentive for Aaron and I to go down and visit more often! We had a great time and can’t wait to visit them again soon.

Best Babysitter!

DSC_5387

This is Uncle Mike. Lately he has become June’s babysitter. Sometimes he offers to babysit and sometimes we ask him to babysit. Whatever the case or situation Uncle Mike is always more than willing to take on the task, He is so amazing with June, I could not ask for anyone better to watch her… besides me and Aaron. He always makes her laugh and smile and she gives him extra cuddles, which anyone can tell you happens less and less as they get more busy. Aaron and I both feel very lucky that June has such an amazing uncle and babysitter! It also helps that he lives less than 10 minutes away. I know we will be losing him sometime soon…. he is getting married this summer and getting more busy with dental school. This will be sad for all of us occupying this house, but I hope he knows that the door is always open!

Lately June and I have been able to enjoy the sunshine. We walk/drive to the park and she plays and plays and plays. She has so much fun being outside! She loves to climb, slide, and swing. I can’t wait for our Washington summer to start, so that June and I can get back to the outdoors!

1!

We celebrated June’s birthday a little early this year. My parents were going to be out of town on her official birthday, but they still wanted to celebrate with us. June shared her birthday with my brother-in-law, Jason. His birthday is on the 23rd and June’s is on the 29th, so we celebrated both birthdays on the 17th. Jason was so nice to share his birthday Sunday with June. He got to pick his favorite meal and I made June a delicious chocolate cake, which she loved. We sang Happy Birthday to both and let June dig in! It was so fun to see her and to think back to just a year ago when she was so small and fragile. Now she walks and talks(very loudly)! This past year just flew by and I am grateful everyday for her spirit of adventure and her curious little mind. She has brought so much joy and love into our home and we are thankful she is the first chapter to our growing family! Thanks to my wonderful and talented sister for the great pictures.

My sister was kind enough to take some shots of June, which we really appreciate cause it was very chilly and windy. She did a great job and I couldn’t ask for better pictures. I cannot believe she is almost one! Time has just flown by.

Dresses

DSC01971DSC01972DSC01973

I have been wanting to make some dresses for June for the summer, but my sewing skills are lacking very much in that department. I am VERY lucky to have a sewing master as a mother. She always made our clothes while growing up. So of course there was only one person to ask to help with the task. My mom was very willing and more than ready to teach me the ropes….very basic ropes.

2 out of the 3 dresses were tutorials from online and the other was a pattern. I picked out the fabric and ribbons and she provided the sewing machines and talent. We had so much fun sewing, cutting and ironing. She was a great teacher and very patient! She will say that I did a lot of the work, but she did most of it.

Thanks mom!

Portland

Last weekend, Aaron, June, and I went down to Portland to visit some friends and celebrate Aaron’s birthday. We left at around 3:00 and it was only supposed to take 3 hours, but the traffic was so horrendous that it took 5 hours! It was awful. June couldn’t get a good sleep with all the stopping of the traffic that she only slept 45 min the whole time. That didn’t bother her, she was still happy! When we got there we ate some pizza and the kids went to bed. We stayed up and talked and laughed and talked about the old times. Chrisite and Ben had visited us a couple times before and we thought it would be fun to spend a couple days with them.

The next morning we went to the Children’s Museum.Christie and Ben also have a little boy, about a year and a half. The kids had tons of fun! It was fun to see them explore and take it all in. We went home and the kids napped. Lately Aaron had been obsessed with Survivor, so we watched a couple episodes of that. We all went out to dinner and had such a fun time!

On Sunday it was Aaron’s birthday. We went out to breakfast and walked through the mall. Aaron has also wanting to get an ipad 2….. every time we call an apple store or go by a store they are all sold out and you have to get up very early to wait in line for one. He is still patiently waiting to get one. Aaron isn’t a big sweets guy, so I didn’t bake him a cake, but I did bake his favorite cookies. Christie and I got him a Jamba Juice. We stuck a little candle in the top and sang “Happy Birthday”. It was such a fun time! They way home was a lot faster,so that was nice. We hope to visit them again sometime soon.I didn’t take tons of pictures… still getting use to bringing my camera everywhere

Nature

The weather here  has been just perfect(for Washington in March). June and I have been able to go on walks almost every morning/afternoon. She has been practicing her walking skills just in the house and so I thought a  good idea might be to practice her skills outside with some rougher terrain and her shoes on. We would walk to a non busy street and I would take her out of the stroller and she would be able to walk and explore the world around her. I am probably having her develop some sort of bad habit in the future, but I am just so excited that she is adventurous and curious that I want to develop that as much as I can.

A Few Of My Favorite Things

She has the most beautiful voice!

I love to have her singing in the background all day long.

No need to tell me how adorable these little shoes are... I already know .

I love love love this place, everything on the menu is delish!

Don’t even get me started on the guacamole….

This chocolate is super yummy. They have such an interesting variety of chocolate. Spicy Chili chocolate,Coconut Curry chocolate, 91% dark chocolate… and it’s organic!

I just discovered this popcorn when I was on a chocolate tour in Seattle. Very interesting varieties as well; Jalapeno cheese, Buffalo Blue Cheese,Bruschetta, Coconut Macaroon, S’mores and Maple Bacon. They also have normal popcorn flavorings too.

Please watch this show… you will not regret it.

oh… and watch this one too.

Ok, so this picture contains TWO of my favorite things/people. My sweet little June and my amazing hubby. I don’t think I could survive this place without them.
